I want to install MSXML 4.0 to my computer, but this keeps on come up: "Error opening installation log file. Verify that the specified log file exists and is writable"

  Hello,

  I was installing updates to my computer and this two updates failed: Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 for x64-based System and Security Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 for x64-based system. So I went to this website(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973688) and tried to download them, but this message popped out "Error opening installation log file. Verify that the specified log file exists and is writable." What does that mean? What can I do to fix it?

  PS I have no idea what these two updates are for or how they affect my computer, but the computer says that they're important. Please, please help me!!
