How to prevent shared printers on client computers to be available on WHS

Question

Hello;
my WHS system (Acer H340) keeps on trying to add the shared printers on client computers, but since it lacks the relevant drivers, it shows an error message in the event viewer.
How do I prevent my WHS system from trying to add shared printers from client computers?

Hi,
If you want to avoid the errors, you can login to the server via Remote Desktop and perform following (unsupported) steps:
- In Start menu click Control Panel/Administrative Tools.
- Open Terminal Services Configuration.
- Right click RDP-TCP and select Properties.
- On Client Settings tab click the checkbox to disable Windows Printer Mapping amd LPT Port Mapping.
- Click OK and confirm the message.

Logon to your server desktop (remote desktop) then:
1. Administrator Tools, TS Configuration, Connections, right click RDP-Tcp, Properties, Client Settings tab.
2. Untick Use connection settings from user settings
3. Untick Connect client printers at login
PLEASE NOTE, if you make any errors you may completely disable remote desktop and WHS console access, so please be careful if you don't have keyboard/monitor attached- Proposed as answer by Ken WarrenModerator Thursday, October 8, 2009 6:40 PM
