iBank4 import from MS Money RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I really like MS Money a lot, but have decided it is time to move on to a product that has a future. At my next hardware upgrade I have decided to move also to Mac (partly because of MS abandoning Money, and Outlook for private users), and having done a lot of research, it seems that iBank4 is about the most complete replacement for MSMoney on the Mac. According to the blurb, it even IMPORTS DATA FROM MICROSOFT MONEY!

Does anybody know if this is a DIRECT import? Or does it mean going through CIV export/import charade, which never works properly?

That would be very useful, but .MNY files use a proprietary format to which we don't have access. I'm afraid it wouldn't be an easy matter for us to figure out the format and write a converter for iBank.

Looks like the QIF route with the inevitable loss of so much data.  Stick with Money.  Even cancelled it is still pretty good.

  • Thanks - Microsoft are utter b*stards in refusing to release to developers their file structure. I wonder what they imagine they gain from this policy?

Money and Outlook are two of my most used applications. I wasn't surprised at them dropping Money but their crippling of the Journal function in Outlook (which I use extensively) is of particular annoyance. There is nothing else which comes close for me. Furthermore, I have years worth of Journal records whick would require migration.

I'm staying with Money 2005 and Office 2003 (even after it goes out of support).
