Add hard drive problem RRS feed

  • I'm in the process of setting up a WHS unit (ECS 945G motherboard, Pendium D805, 1G RAM, 2X200G SATA (1 maxtor and 1 WD), 2X250 PATA (Maxtor on a 3WARE RAID controller, RAID 1, not part of the storage pool) and 2X250 SATA (1 maxtor and 1 WD).  Everything works perfectly, except 1 issue.
I should add that all SATA drives are using the onboard SATA ports provided by the Intel southbridge.  The problem (and I saw it listed on a different thread, but with no "solution") is that the 250G WD SATA drive only shows as 128MB in WHS.  The BIOS detects it correctly as 250G.  Even Disk management in WHS sees it as a 128GB drive.  Plugging it into a different SATA port doesn't make a difference.  The drive is ok (it shows as 250GB when I plug it into my other computers (both VISTA and XP).
My next "step" is to plug in my SIL3114 SATA card and add the drive that way.
Did anybody else ran accross this problem before, and if so, did they find a solution?
