Issues with Office 2007 genuine validation failure RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a volume license for Office 2007. After installing the Microsoft Office 2007 on many other machines I get an error with this machine on genuine validation. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall; however, I still get a validation error. I have installed the Microsoft Office 2007 on another machine and used the same volume license which didnt cause any problems. I used the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool on the computer with the issue and here is the copy:

  • Hello SwiftTech,

I'd use a keyfinding utility (such as Magical Jellybean Keyfinder, Belarc advisor, etc) to verify that the product key installed on this computer is different from your presumably Genuine Volume Licensing Key.

If you find that somehow a rogue key was inadvertently used to install this copy of Office, use the procedure in the following MS KB to change the key:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/895456

Then, if necessary, you could remove the Office license file (which is not removed during an uninstallation or reinstallation) by running the MS FixIt in Method 1 of this MS KB article:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919895

There is some overlap of the two items above and I am not sure if there is a better order of execution given that you are keeping a Volume Licensing installation of Office on the computer rather than what most people who post here are trying to do, which is replace a nongenuine VL installation with a genuine retail- or OEM-licensed installation.

Finally a visit to www.microsoft.com/genuine and clicking the Validate Office button should reset the OGA Notifier to reflect that the product key and license file are now genuine.
