Office pre-installed on a PC RRS feed

  • Question

  • I bought a Dell Inspirion 700m laptop in 2004 which came with Windows XP and Microsoft Office Small Business pre-installed.

Dell did not provide me with installation CD's. I have needed to reintall the software.

How do I get a copy of Microsoft Office Small Business? I still have the orignal product keys, but not the software itself.

    Thanks,
    Greg

  • Grreg,

You can research what media shipped with your dell computer by entering your Service Tag number at support.dell.com.  When you arrive at the page for your exact computer, in the left hand column choose Warranty Information, and then on the resulting web page, choose the "Original Configuration" tab.  This tab will list each component that shipped with your Dell.  Look for an entry similar to "MS OFC 2003 SB Kit."  If you see something along those lines, then Dell did ship the CDs with the computer, which is their practice to do so.

Please contact Dell customer support for assistance, they might be able to help.

Since your copy of Office 2003 SB was not purchased directly from Microsoft but from Dell, Dell retains any contractual oblication for support of Office 2003.
