Microsoft CRM 4.0 Domain changed RRS feed

  • We had some network issues and were forced to revuild our network, the domain name has changed so now all users have new AD accounts with a new domain prefix (but the same username). The CRM server remins unchanged but has been joined to the new domain, IIS and SQL server are both functioning and CRM is working however due to the change of domain name no accounts are able to log in (including the admin account). Running the deployment tool on the CRM server fails as it does not recognise the new administrator due to the new domain prefix.

    How can i update the users so that it recgonises that there is now a new domain name?

  • CRM uses the ActiveDirectory GUID AND the username to identify users in AD, so you can't remap the users manually (not without great effort and import anyway)


    This might work:


    Uninstall and remove Microsoft CRM from the server.

    Detach the MSCRM_Config database and rename the datafiles (for backup)

    Install CRM with a different organizationname than the one you are planning to use

    Use the deployment tool to import the organization from the old data databasemapping to new users.
