Installation & Hard Drive RRS feed

  • Question

  • What happens if it isn't installed on the largest drive? Does it cause some storage or other problems? What if you add in a larger drive later on which causes the drive with the system partition on it to, no longer be the largest?

  • Hello,
as long as the primary disk fullfills the minimum requirements, it is not a problem to add larger disks later or have them as secondary drives.
Since Power Pack 1 the DATA partition on the system disk is no longer used as landing zone, and since the November update also the check of Vista for the available space before starting a copy action to a share is no longer bound to the size of drive D:.
Only in a two disk scenario you may run in problems with folder duplication enabled and the size of folders to be duplicated being larger than the available disk space on the data partition of the smaller drive.

  • Thank You very much for the answer. One question though, I'm unaware of Power Pack 2 and searched microsoft, not finding it. Did you mean Power Pack 1?

  • Unless you meant "Service Pack 2", then you would be correct.

    Thanks again!
