CRM Active Directory OU Move RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Everyone,

We are currently running CRM v3.0 in our production environment and the CRM OU structure was created in the root of our Active Directory structure when CRM was installed (I don't know why but it was). I would like to move the OU structure to its correct location under its correct department. My question is, which is the easiest way to achieve this? I was told that this would involve uninstalling and reinstalling CRM by our CRM admin - is this the case or is there another route that I could take to achieve this result?

    Many thanks,
    Roy

  • Hi Roy,

With CRM 3 I have sucessfuly moved both the server and the crm groups from one OU to another OU.  The process is simple -- just move the groups, then reboot the crm server. CRM does not seem to store the full path of the groups, only the ad domain and group name.

  • Hi Everyone,

Logged a call with MS just to be sure and was advised that we would need to:

Move the OU structure to the new area.
Restart the IIS service on all CRM servers.

*PS Creating a mirrored OU structure and moving the contents of the existing OU to the newly created structure is also possible but will need the IIS service to be restarted on all CRM servers too.
