windows 7 home premium - system crashed - new system won't validate using existing product key RRS feed

  • Question

  • My system died so I bought replacement parts and rebuilt it.

Was unable to restore from a system image as the upgrade install disk software won't recognize the vhd file on the new drive so I re-installed windows 7 home premium and now it won't activate.

Tried the phone line and it failed as well.

The Family Pack upgrade package (SKU GFC-00235) I bought was good for 3 PC's so I'm more than a bit confused.

    Anyone have suggestions/fixes?

Upgrades require a valid operating system to upgrade from - you need to reinstall the original OS and activate it, then install the Upgrade.
