One care won't install RRS feed

  • It is common to provide a little more detail in a request for Help. What happens when you try to install? Do you get an error message? Is this a new install? How are you trying to install? Download or from CD? What is your operating system? Without any of that information all I can do is refer you to the following:

  • My Windows Live One Care 1.5 expired today.  I uninstalled 1.5 version last week and tried installing version 2.0.  After completing the install and download process, restarting and sign in process, it still appears that I need to install new version and my firewall is turned off.  I have repeated this process several times with no luck.  Please advise.

  • What is the latest version of OneCare.  Would this make a difference?  I did purchase a version newer that the one on my PC.

The latest version is 2.0, which you actually had (or should have had) when you removed it. OneCare updates itself to the latest version at install and also during the live of an active subscription.

You did not need to uninstall/reinstall. You simply needed to renew with the retail key.

Now that you reinstalled, by activating with the same LiveID, the new install inherited the subscription status of the existing subscription and you were not prompted for payment or a retail PIN/Key.

Go to http://billing.microsoft.com and sign in with your subscription LiveID. (Open OneCare and click help/about to view the subscription LiveID)

Select the OneCare subscription and click on the renew link.

Choose the option to renew with a prepaid PIN or token which is the retail product key.

Enter the 25 character key and proceed.

It can take up to 24 hours for the subscription status to be updated in OneCare if you are renewing within 30 days of expiration and 5 days if renewal was performed between 90 and 30 days before expiration.

0014 indicates a problem with your network connection or a problem with the server side. If the problem persists, it is your network connection.

You are using an older CD. Install the trial from http://onecare.live.com and activate with the retail key from your CD case or using the same LiveID as you originally subscribed, if this is not the first PC on your subscription.

Download, save, and run the cleanup tool:

    Then install OneCare.

  • Hello  valterchaves, there are a few different issues discussed in this thread so when you say you have the same problem it is difficult to know what you need help with. I suggest starting a new thread describing your issue in as much detail as possible.
