  • Hi,

I was wondering if anybody could point me towards an AM2 Motherboard (on the WHS recommended list) that has 8x or 6x SATA ports?

    Many thanks.

  • I built my server about 7 weeks ago using:

GIGABYTE GA-MA74GM-S2 AM2+/AM2 AMD 740G Micro ATX AMD Mobo - 6x SATA ports
    AMD Athlon X2 4850e 2.5GHz Socket AM2 45W Dual-core CPU
    SILVERSTONE NT07-AM2 80mm CPU Cooler

At initial boot, I had no video. Cleared the CMOS per the instructions, booted again and the video came up. After installing WHS, I installed the network drivers right off the disk that came with the mobo. It's been running great ever since!

  • Hello,
I am pretty sure, that there is not such a list for Windows Home Server, since WHS is based on Server 2003. The HCL for Windows Server 2003 is not very up to date and I don't think that it covers modern boards, especially if they are not designed for servers. Ideal WHS hardware would deliver drivers for Windows Server 2003, which isn't the case for many consumer boards.
So your only option is to check out the experiences from others, like here in this thread.

    Best greetings from Germany
