  • Hi,

I decided to restart my quest for certification which has eluded me for several years. This was mainly due to being busy and not having a consistent self-study schedule. Well I have decided to knuckle down and go for it. Since I already started on the MCSE 2003 track I decided to stay on it with a view to upgrading to Windows 2008. I have couple of questions and would be grateful if someone could answer these for me.

    1) I already have 70-290,291,293 - Am I still right in thinking I'm better off finishing the  2003 track and then do the 2008 upgrade exams?

    2) I originally planned to do 70-298 as my design exam (security). Is there a equivalent on the windows 2008 track? If not which design exam is recommended?

    3) Can I do the Exchnage 2010 exam as an elective for the MCSE 2003 track? I can't see it in the list.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Hi there,

    1. since you have already completed 3 exams on MCSE 2003, why not take another 4 MCSE exams so that you don't waste them? and you can always upgrade to MCITP later. I have done my MCITP EA but I found it is less regarded then MCSE here in Sydney. not sure about other countries.

    2. in 2008 track (MCITP) there is no design or elective exam. There are 4 fixed core exams plus one client exam.

    3. the OS requirement for exchange 2010 is Server 2008 SP2, I guess that's why it is not part of the MCSE 2003 track.

TBH, MCITP is eaiser to get, but it is all depend what you need

    Good luck
