Silent install and configuration of CRM 4.0 Client to Outlook 2003 with offline access?? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, sorry if this has been covered in another thread, I have spent much time looking and cannot find a definitive answer.

I have to work out how to do a silent install then configuration, if possible, of CRM 4.0 for Outlook with Offline access using GPO. Installing into Outlook 2003. We want to assign this, NOT publish it and have users install it via Add and Remove programs. I have read on an MS site that CRM cannot be assigned, only published, using GPO.
    Is this correct?

I have done some experimenting with installation and configuration using a network share and batch files and a config file for configuration. The config file works but cannot get a silent configuration to work. The user - me - always has to click through the configuration process. Anyway around this?

  • Here is a previous post http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/crmdeployment/thread/101b8954-c166-4acc-a227-d2a3e67a0942. Think you need a user to configure as it sets up config in there profile. You should be able to make it just require the user to click  Next->Next->Next though if you provide a config file.

  • Thanks for the reply, I looked through the thread you linked to. Everthything mentioned there I am familiar with.

Is there a way to include a config file in the .msi package for the initial install via Add and Remove Programs, which seems to be one of two ways to install CRM for Outlook? This config file would have the settings for the install, mainly the INSTALLLEVEL=3, which is for Offline Access.
