Windows 7 Home Premium Product Key Cannot Be Used... RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    About a year ago I bought a Full Licensed Copy of Windows 7 Home Premium (not OEM) - I installed it on my Laptop, registered the product key and have been using it with no problems ever since. Until last week. When I started experiencing all sorts of problems, sluggish operation, 45min+ boot-up / shut down, web browsers not working correctly etc... I had Anti-Virus Software installed (Paid, Not Free) but I was still experiencing the problems.

    After to speaking to one of the IT guys at work, he advised that I should reformat the Hard Drive and start again from scratch, using the Windows 7 disk I bought a year ago. I asked him if I could use the same product key and he said it would be fine because I am installing on the same computer that the key is registered to.

    After backing-up all my files on an external hard-disk. I inserted the Windows 7 disk (same one I used last time) and re-formatted the Hard Drive...then I re-installed Windows. I am delighted with the performance, nice and quick is it was before I had all the problems. But when I came to Activate the product, I typed the same code I used last time in (the one inside the Windows 7 Box) and it told me that the Product Key cannot be used on this machine. - Do I have to buy new product key, and if so, where can I do this from? - I would only need a new code, not the disks, as I already have them.

    I know you guys like to see the MGA reports;

    Here's what I get: (Note: I'm still in my 30-day grace period)
