Scripting and Security Groups RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

Is there a way to get information from a security group, as to what GPO Polices it is associated with. I can hazard a guess by examining the GPMC and ADUC and make an educated guess but I would like to definitively know.

Any information of how I could extract this information would be greatly appreciated. There are some scripts online but they appear to be quite old and do not work on our environment.

We are working on Windows 7 and 10 Clients and W2012 / Servers.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards.

  • Your question belongs in the Group Policy forum.

You can get that information from RSOP or the Policy results Wizard in the GPMC.

Also note that policies are not "associated with" security groups.  A security group can filter a policy and a policy can apply a security group.  Policies are "linked" to AD containers.

Takes some time to study what Group Policy is and how it works then post your question in the GP forum.
