One Care Printer woes... RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have 5 PCs - two desktops on a wired/wireless home network and three laptops that are occassionally connected via wireless.

OneCare was nice enough to update our software with the latest and greatest version (2.2???) and now we cannot share our printer since it exists on a different licensed copy of OneCare.

How can we make this work? It seems quite silly that an artificial barrier such as multiple licensed copies of OneCare would prevent sharing of printers and OBTW, shared files too!!!

    Help me here....

  • If all PCs are on the same LAN and all are showing that they are connected to a Private network - Home or Work, File and Printer Sharing should be on and working, though you may not be able to share the printers via the Printer Sharing feature in OneCare with two subscriptions. That does not prevent you from sharing the printer via normal File and Printer Sharing in Windows if it is turned on.

If this is still not working, try the advanced Firewall tab to enable file and printer sharing with subnet and Internet on the host PC.
