Chase1111,
Under most circumstances Microsoft recommends that for best results, when it comes time to "genuine-ize" a nogenuine installation of XP, you should do a clean installation using the genuine XP CD that you receive in the WGA Kit. If your circumsances are such that a clean installation cannot be done, then the Product Key Updater Utility may be able to "genuine-ize" a nongenuine installation of XP using the Product Key emailed to you after your purchase of the WGA Kit. Please see this link for info on the Updater utility: http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/selfhelp/pkuinstructions.aspx
If you will be using a Recovery solution provided by your computer manufacturer, then please follow the manufacturer's directions for the use of their Recovery solution.
Please note that a clean installation destroys all user data on the hard disk drive, so you will want to back up and offload any irreplaceable data.
Here is a good tutorial for a clean installation: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/cleanxpinstall.html
