I'm running Windows Vista and have been successfully running OneCare for nearly a year. I recently returrned from vacation and OneCare was "Red" with failed updates, and nearly everything turned off and "Red"(presumably after reboot). I could not turn on the firewall for instance. So I decided to uninstall and reinstall. When I reinstall I get the following error.
Installation did not succeed: Error ID: 0039-800B010A
I've run the OneCareCleanup tool and it had not effect. I still have the same problem
It appears that there may be a Windows Update problem on my machine, because I am having problems installing other updates; Windows defender definitions, new Realtek network driver (error 80070103 unkown), etc..
Anyone else having problems like this? Everything was working fine until a couple weeks ago. I believe it was caused by a framework update, or some other update...
I first suggest checking the PC date and time. A date/time problem can manifest itself with all kinds of strange problems. If the date and time are correct, then Jim's advice to contact support is the way to go. -steveMicrosoft MVP Windows Live / Windows Live OneCare & Live Mesh Forum Moderator
