Disable the export to Excel, Word, etc.? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

is it possible to disable / deactivate / not allow the export of customer data from the CRM to other applications like Excel or Word? How?

We want that some users can't "steal" a big amount of data; we don't speak about a hardcopy of a single page with data.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Hi Viele,

    Follow these steps:

    1. Click Settings>Administration>Security Roles.
    2. Click the checkbox next to the role you want to edit and make a copy of it.
    3. Name if something useful, appending "No Export" to the end.
    4. In the role you just made, click the Business Management tab and scroll down to the Misc. Privileges section.
    5. Cycle through the Export to Excel privilege until you get a red circle (aka None Selected).
    6. After saving the new "No Export" role, return the Administration area and click Users.
    7. Remove the impacted user's original role and add their new "No Export" role.

Note: This will revoke their ability to export to any program, not just Excel. This is important because, if you are using Quotes for example, this means they won't be able to print PDFs. Also, this may mean they will be unable to export XML templates for re-import (ex. on the Case entity).

    Regards,

    M
