Free upgrade from Office 2007 Home & Student to Office 2010 Home & Student under technology guarantee RRS feed

  • Question

  • I purchased Office 2007 Home and Student in April 2010 and have loaded it on two (2)computers and upgraded it thereafter to the Office 2010 Home and Student.

Now I have got a third (3rd) computer which is preloaded with Office 2007 by the manufacturer. Can I upgrade this to Office 2010 using the 3rd license available under the purchase.

  • Hello scheriyane72,

I don't see anything in the Office 2010 Tech Upgrade FAQ that would preclude you from doing so.

Hey Dan, got to take your "Buy Office..." signature off.  The program is over now.  Anyone buying the 2007 version after Sept 30th can't upgrade anymore (or did MS extend the program?)

  • Hi LVTravel,

Thanks for noticing!  But to answer your question, AFAIK there has been no extension of the program.

I plan to change it at the end of October.  True, the time has passed for making the qualifying purchase of Office 2007.  There's one more deadline that is mentioned in the FAQ, that of October 31, 2010, the deadline for taking the action of submitting the request to download and install Office 2010, after of course having made your Office 2007 purchase within the specified timeframe.

  • The Office 2010 tech guarantee allows customers who purchased a copy of Office 2007 after March 5th 2010 to receive a free download upgrade to Office 2010 for the equivalent Office suite.  Each order can only contain one copy, as this offer is only available on a per-purchase basis.

If you made your purchase within this timeframe, you will be able to order your free copy at www.office.com/techg .
