transfer of xp licence multiple times RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
I want to be able to purchase a XP licences and use it on several different machines but only one at a time (having the xp licence travel with the harddrive or USB drive i plan to plug into different computers). Several forum posts have suggested this can be done as long as the xp install is only installed on one computer at a time. However from what i can see on the user agreements it seems to suggest that the licence is tied to the machine.

Note: the hardware will be the same therefore this is physically possible and windows shouldn't cause any errors. I am just wondering about the legal implications.

Is there a version of XP that will allow me to do this and if so can someone point me to the relevant document which says this before i spend a month writing windows code for possibly no reason.

    Thanks,
    Scott
