Disk Check at Boot RRS feed

  • WindowsOneCare scheduled a Scan Disk for my computer...it ran but now it comes up everytime I boot up...How dow you fix this from recurring each time

  • I've split your post from the thread you posted to and moved it to the Tune-up folder.

    The disk check runs at startup because Windows may have detected a problem with the hard disk that cannot be fixed while Windows is running. When it runs at start, it has full access to the drive.

    You can use a registry key file available from here: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm (line 82 "Disable or Enable Check Disk Upon Boot" - select Disable)

    However, I'd recommend that you perform a diagnostic on the drive.

    Note that OneCare didn't schedule this check.
