Stop CRM from propagating owner from Incident to related Tasks RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Out of the box, when user changes the owner of a case (incident), CRM propagates that to all related activities (the owner of the related activities will also be change to the one selected for their parent case).

Is there a way to disable this functionality? I don't want the owner of the related activities to change.

    Thanks.

  • There is.

    Go to your customizations

    Open incidents

    Click 1-n relationships.

On each of the 1-n relationships from Incident to each of the activity types... Change the relationship type from Parental to Referential or if that is not possible.. change it to Parental, Conditional.

Then you can change the inheritance settings.

  • Yes, you can change the relationship behavior from parental to configurable cascading. Here's more information about entity relationship behaviour: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg309412.aspx.

  • It is adviced to do the same on multiple entities such as Accounts, Contacts, Opportunities, Incidents, Leads etc etc etc....

I simply got tired of doing the customizations over and over again.. So I build a solution package that I allways start out by importing when I create a new organisations.
