Office 2007: Print as PDF issue on hi-res PNG files RRS feed

    It seems that Office 2007 (didn't try other versions) applications including Word, PowerPoint and Excel in our experiments have issues on working with high resolution PNG files inserted in the document! We added some 600 dpi PNG graphics and printed as PDF file using different engines such as CutePDF and XChange, however, the resulting PDFs are unacceptable. We tried then converting those to TIFF files with same resolution and surprisingly everything was perfect except that TIFF files are so huge! Nevertheless PDF output is very satisfying. Finally we tried 300 dpi PNG files and found it works as expected i.e., PDF are fine. So what is wrong with Office products dealing with PNG 600 dpi graphics?
