Manufacturer-produced Home Server Computers? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Aside from home-built "kits", when will a PC manufacturer produce a home server computer? Acer's RevoCenter R 110 doesn't appear to be marketed in the US yet and HP has discontinued its MediaSmart line. I'm uneasy about purchasing UK products (Tranquil and Viridian - for reasons of support).  I see where the HP Proliant servers are "certified" for WHS 2011, but HP's site is vague on this. My 4yr old HP 485 is acting "squirrelly" - one Seagate drive has crashed, and I'm looking for an immediate replacement.

  • Your guess is as good as anyone's. As far as I am aware there are none in the US although there are rumours of the Acer being released. HP will provide support for their Proliant line but it still means you have to but an OM copy of WHS 2011 and install it!
