  • Ouch!

All three missing can't be good :(

Have you been using any form of Registry Cleaner/Optimiser? - if so, please UNDO anything it's done, and then uninstall it.

We'll have to add the entries back, and then set proper permissions on them once they are correct.

    I've uploaded a file - slui.zip - to my SkyDrive at  Noel's SkyDrive

    Please download and save it.

Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…

Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder  slui in the same place.

Inside that folder, you'll find the slui.reg file

Right-click on it, and select 'Merge'

Accept the warnings, and you should get a 'Success' message.

Then reboot and run the following commands again in an Elevated Command Prompt window and post the results.

    REG QUERY HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Wow6432Node\TypeLib\{EE574957-4077-4AD6-8658-327C2C86C5AA} /S

    REG QUERY HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\TypeLib\{EE574957-4077-4AD6-8658-327C2C86C5AA} /S

    REG QUERY HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Classes\TypeLib\{EE574957-4077-4AD6-8658-327C2C86C5AA} /S

and also run another MGADiag report, and post that.

If everything has worked, then we'll just need to set proper permissions.

  • I meant to add that I've been running this OS for over 1 year without this error. It has just started showing up a couple of weeks ago.

  • Tampered File: %systemroot%\system32\slui.exe|slui.exe.mui|COM Registration

To confirm that the problem is what I think it is, please run the following commands in an Elevated Command Prompt window and post the results.

    REG QUERY HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Wow6432Node\TypeLib\{EE574957-4077-4AD6-8658-327C2C86C5AA} /S

    REG QUERY HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\TypeLib\{EE574957-4077-4AD6-8658-327C2C86C5AA} /S

    REG QUERY HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Classes\TypeLib\{EE574957-4077-4AD6-8658-327C2C86C5AA} /S

Here are some instructions to make life easier :)

    1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.

    2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.

    3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.

  • That's got rid of the COM error, at least :)

Please attempt validation using Internet Explorer, at www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate  - what happens?

  • I guess that fixed it. So far no pop ups and I got a web page with this below when i did the validation.

    Welcome to Windows!

Because Windows installed on your PC is genuine, enjoy the security, reliability and protection it provides.

I can't thank you enough helping me get rid of this issue.

  • Great!

Please post a new MGADiag report so we can cross-check it.

  • Still getting a 'Library not registered' error :(

Mostly, I've been unable to find out what causes that - but sometimes it appears to be reseals from old Anti-Viruses.

What Anti-Virus is currently installed? What other AV's have EVER been installed?

Please run the following commands, and post the results - they may show something.

    REG QUERY HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{A6C13C9D-54E1-44FC-82F0-DBE2C843E51A} /S

  • Vipre isn't known to cause problems with uninstalls, but please run through these instructions anyhow....

Your output looks normal enough to me -

Please run these commands, and post the results.
