Remote Desktop keeps getting disconnected with 00000040,5 and 80004005,0 error messages RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

My Mesh Remote Desktop keeps disconnecting for no apparent reason every 5 mins or so with first error showing as 0000040, 6 and subscequently would not reconnect with error 80004005,0 after 10 or so retries it will reconnect again and then in 5 mins or so will drop it again.
Is it only me or it's a bug?

  • Hmmm....
I'd suggest filing a bug on it, then. I wonder if whatever logmein is doing (I assume that the remote PC has a listener app for logmein that runs) to wait for a connection request is conflicting with Live Mesh...

  • Does it disconnect while you are actually active in the remote session? It is my understanding that it will drop an inactive session, but the delay you are seeing for a reconnect still seems excessive.

  • It disconnects while I'm active or inactive. It seems completely random time or behavior wise. Right now I can not connect at all it immediately fails with 0040 error. I now box is up and running since I can connect via LogMein.com just fine.

  • Actually, I'm getting the same bug. I don't have LogMeIn installed, and until the last update push, my Mesh was connecting just fine. I can push to Live Desktop and sync, but no RDC anymore.

  • I get the same thing, can not connect to other devices.  Dont have anything running that would cause it not to connect.  Just installed Live Mesh after seeing a buddy RDT to his home computer from work without all the port forwarding and what not.  Any help on this would be great.

Again I have not been able to remote in to any device while using Live Mesh since I installed it.

Thank you for your time and help

  • Hey is there a recent problem?  I am getting error 80004005,0  when trying remote desktop.  It seems to connect and is about to display the login screen then suddenly disconects.  I just had it working 2 days ago at home, but now haven't been able to work since.  I am on a different network - is there a port that needs to be unblocked? I am using the same laptop I did when it worked and no changes to windows firewall.
    Thanks

    Hi,

There are no special ports that need to be unblocked, and since Live Mesh Remote Desktop was working for you before would you mind opening a bug?  Instructions are in an Announcement at the top of the forums.

    Thanks,

    Ben.

  •  Thanks I'll go ahead and submit a bug.

By the way, if anyone else is having these issues, here's some direct links to submit a bug (Sometimes it's really hard to navigate to the right page on these forums - even if a link is to submit a bug, it will take you to another product page and then you have to look around and search.):

    #1) link to bug guide:
    https://connect.microsoft.com/content/content.aspx?SiteID=425&ContentID=10011

#2) link to submit bug - it's actually called "submit feedback" not submit bug!
