WiFi security while traveling RRS feed

  • Question

If I connect to an unsecured WiFi while traveling across country does Live OneCare provide any security automatically or do I have to perform some setup process?

  • When you connect to any unknown network, OneCare automatically switches the firewall to restricted and identifies the network as public unless you change this and identify the network as private - Home or Work - and safe. So, by default, wireless and wired connections when traveling become secure. In you home network, what WiFi security does in OneCare is insure that your router is configured for a secure wireless connection using encryption. You have no control over the public connection, so your transmission to the public access point is not secure - your PC is safe from access, though.
