Can't uninstall program allegedly not genuine, can't install genuine program

Question
-
My nephew installed Office 2007 on my computer and assured me it was a valid legal copy. I got a notification that it is not valid and he did something to fix it. A few months later, I got another notification. So rather than continue to bother him and wonder if it really is valid, I got a new copy, thinking I could just enter the code. It said I had to uninstall what is on there and reinstall the new program. When I tried to uninstall, I got a "Microsoft encountered an error" during the uninstall and it just quit. I got the same message when I tried to install the new software.
I'm running Office 2007 Enterprise Edition on Windows XP. I can't find the "About" menu so I do not know if there is any verions annotation on the Office 07 programs.
I would like to "Get Genuine" as they say and move on. For what its worth, it would be nice to be able to go into the software they say is not genuine and type in a genuine code rather than having to uninstall and reinstall.
The validation report from the Diagnostic tool follows. Even though the tool states the validation is valid, it still gives me the message that it is not. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello Diane C.,
Here is a snippet of your magadiag report:

Your Dell computer currently has two Office family programs installed. You have Office Enterprise 2007 which is the one that is reporting as nongenuine because as you mentioned it is a Volume Licensing installation of Office that was done with an Invalid Volume Licensing product Key. You also have a Volume Licensing installation of the stand-alone edition of Outlook 2003. If you do not have a Volume Licensing Agreement to cover the use of this installation of Outlook 2003 (from what you posted it's almost a certainty that you do not), then your use of this product would also be nongenuine.
Based on the problems you reported uninstalling, I would like to suggest that you follow the steps in this MS KB article to run the MS FixIt Utility that is an automatic uninstaller for the Office Enterprise 2007 currently installed on your Dell: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971179/
The description of the MS FixIt above tells us that it may not uninstall the standalone installation of Outlook 2003. If you are unable to uninstall Outlook 2003 using the Add or Remove Programs applet in Control Panel, you will have to search the internet for instructions on how to manually uninstall Outlook 2003. I am unaware of any utility that you can run that uninstalls just Outlook 2003.
Once you have both Outlook 2003 and Office Enterprise 2007 uninstalled, restart the computer twice and then install the (presumably) genuine license for Office that you have acquired. After installation and activation, restart then visit www.microsoft.com/genuine and click on the Validate Office button. Also, IMO it would be wise to rerun the mgadiag utility and post a fresh report so that we can establish that the Office you acquired is a genuine retail license for Office.
