Hi Crazyannoyed,
If I understand correctly, your issue basically breaks down like this:
a) When you boot into Vista in Normal mode, using the Digital Cable, you do NOT get a picture on your LCD
b) When you boot into Vista in Safe mode, using the Digital Cable, you DO get a picture on your LCD
c) When you boot into Vista in Normal mode, using a VGA Cable, you DO get a picture on your LCD
Vista does Not decide that it is non-genuine/pirated by what graphic cable is being used.
I'm no expert on graphic drivers, but to me, it sounds like the graphic drives that control the digital output is either messed up or maybe sending a resolution that is not compatible with the LCD.
I do not believe the same potion of a graphic driver controles Digital and VGA output, so the digital potion may be messed up in some way, while the VGA potion is fine. This would explain why the VGA cable wokes in normal mode.
When in safe mode, generic drivers are used, so that would explain why the digital cable worked while in safe mode.
With that being said, I suggest seaking help from someone that understand graphic drives better then I do. They would be able to confirm or deny my diagnosis and probably give you options on how to resolve your issue.
Thank you,
Darin Smith

Hi Crazyannoyed,
You are not able to Validate in Safe Mode, would you explain the issue you are having with Vista in Normal mode? as well as download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012. Click "Continue" click the Windows tab, click the "Copy" button, then paste the report into a response message in this thread.
Thank you,

The problem with vista in normal mode is blank screen at login. i have an acer LCD 22". It was working fine until few couple nights ago when i ,whilst in a game, tried changing the graphics the game was to be played in. this then cut the game off, put me into 640 mode and left me not being able to change back to original settings.

Ok, I see the problem. The Validation Code (on line 3 & 4 of the Diagnostic Report) means the Software Licensing Service has stopped. To restart it, follow the below steps:
If you have acces to the Start button:
1) Click the Start button
2) Type: cmd.exe in the Start Search field
3) Hit the Enter key
4) Right Click cmd.exe and select Run as Administrator
5) Type: net start slsvc
If you do not have access to the Start button:
1) Click the option Access computer with reduced functionality
2) A Browser will open, type: %windir%\system32 into the address field
3) Find the file cmd.exe
4) Right Click on the cmd.exe and select Run as Administrator
5) Type: net start slsvc

Hello Crazyannoyed,
Could you go into more detail as to why you cannot log into Normal mode? What happens if you do login to normal mode? (what errors do you see, do any windows come up? if so, what do the windows say?...so on)
Thank you,
Darin Smith

Hey Darin,
I have corrected the problem temporarily. What it is s that when use my digital cable with my LCD monitor the windows logn screen doesn't come up. I'm thnkng this mght be due to vista thnkng its a hacker or sumthin??? pirate etc??
SO i swapped to VGA cable and works now. The problem i had was that before while n safe mode could not download the windows update whch though MAY have helped with the dgtal side of thngs.
SO now all the problem is findng out whether its a Nviiidia problem? or a windows vista problem? or my cable isnt working?
All i know is it was all working fine a few weeks ago.
Regards,
ca.

how do i get off safe mode i cant download live messenger because of this!!!

Darin,
I have the same question about validation in safe mode.
Below is the copy from running the application you suggested. When I boot up into vista normally the computer freezes up after doing two tasks. The mouse fails to respond and I shut down by holding the start button for ten seconds. Also, when I boot up normally the monitor that is connected to the computer fails to go on, only the lap top screen is on. In the safe mode boot the large connected monitor ignites. I have had the same response wether on the docking station or off of it.
Thanks
