Turned out the root of my problem was I didn't have Vista SP1 installed (though I thought I did). So, others with this same problem would want to double check that, and then try completely uninstalling with the UAC *on* and then reinstalling with the UAC *off*. Turns out Live Mesh and Vista's UAC don't play well together. Good luck!
Hi,
I'm glad you were able to determine the cause of the problem. It's true that Live Mesh will only work with UAC off if you have Vista SP1 - so anyone else seeing this problem: please verify that you have SP1 installed.

Hi,
When you ran the Live Mesh installer, did you receive a UAC prompt? We've seen a couple of recent reports of people logged into admin accounts still receiving this error message (though you shouldn't). If you could send email to lmprev@microsoft.com with the details of your install experience, one of our support personnel will help you right away.
Thanks,

I am having the exact same problem as xs0u1x. I am trying to install Live Mesh on a second user account under Vista Home Premium 32bit. I do have SP1 installed and the second user account is an administrator account. I have UAC turned off, but according to some other forum posts that shouldn't be a problem anymore.
Live Mesh runs perfectly on my first user account, which is also an administrator account. But when attempting to install on the second account I receive the error:
Product does not support running under an elevated account.
[80080017] The class if not configured to support Elevated activation.
I believe I understand that Live Mesh is a per-NT-user installation, so I cannot somehow use the installation in one user account in another.
any help appreciated...

Hi,
One thing you could try would be running the installer from the website (i.e., select "Run" instead of "Save" when getting the installer from www.mesh.com). If that still does not work, please go ahead and open a bug through Connect (instructions are in an Announcement at the top of the forums - note that in this case the Live Mesh Servicing log could be useful (see the last part of the Announcement) if you have one).
Thanks,
