Scheduled Task Failure Notification RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Is it possible to set up some kind of alert in case a Scheduled Task of a SyncToy run has any sort of problems?

  • You can try to use Task Scheduler, adding "send mail" or "display a message" action, after syncing with Synctoy, take the related action.

I did not tried for this, but you can have a try. Welcome share out your experience here if it works well.

  • Hi,

    Thanks, I'll try that.

What I ended up doing was to redirect the output to a file "sync.log" to my desktop.  It would be nice, though, to only get an alert if there's a failure.  Does the SyncToyCmd return code depend on whether there were any errors or not? Can the Task Scheduler read the return code? Also, I'm using Windows XP, and there doesn't seem to be any "send mail" option in the Task Scheduler.

On the other hand, since I'm using a batch file to run sync toy, I guess I can just put whatever logic I want there.
