Is Cyberlink Screen Recorder 15 not compatible with Windows 10 Anniversary Update? RRS feed

  • Question

  • **SYSTEM SPECS IN SIGNATURE**

I just tried to use 2 of my favorite screen recorders, which worked before the anniversary update, and they both are having issues with Edge, Action Center and Right/Click menus on any program (app) in the taskbar including windows explorer and the speaker volume slider popup.

The screen recorder works fine as long as I don't cross the mouse onto any of the above locations. Internet explorer works fine, my Start10 menu works fine, once windows explorer is open, it works fine as long as I don't right click on the taskbar icon to start another instance of it or use that context menu to open another folder location.

What can we do about this??

    The program in question are:

    Cyberlink Screen Recorder 15

    OBS Screen Recorder

    using:

Windows 10 64bit Anniversary Edition with all updates.

Here is a link to the beginning of someone figuring out the issue:

Thanks, and please Help. I need to make a video tonight and I'm dead in the water!!

  • Best to ask the developers of this software. You can also ask about changes / updates to OS over here.

  • AHHHH!! I found it!!

It was IN FACT the GeForce Experience!! I was uninstalling one app after another to find the culprit, rebooting and testing each time, and the second I removed the GFE the problem is gone!!

So it IS an NVIDIA issue, I will report it right away.

    EDIT:::::::::::::::::::

It IS possible that it was NVIDIA Shadow Play and not the entire GFE that was the issue, still testing.

    Thanks again

  • All I know is that Microsoft requires the end user to troubleshoot problems with their software.

This has been going on since Dos.

Therefore you should provide feedback to Microsoft so they can fix problems caused by Microsoft not testing releases with all known Microsoft software and 3rd party software that worked prior to Microsoft providing an "upgrade" or "update" or anything else Microsoft provides that then causes previous functionality to fail.

Of course you will not get paid for performing any effort.

  • Hey thanks Dave, I posted the issue over at the Cyberlink forums and OBS forums, and so far someone form Cyberlink ran a test on a similar system very close to mine and could not recreate the issue. He posted a video of his recording and it works fine.

The only thing different is he does not have the NVIDIA GFE or Physics installed only the driver, but he used 2 different NVIDIA systems and the same exact driver and OS build I'm using now (not sure if all the updates are the same BUT they should be), and the same version and settings I'm using on the recorder so I am stumped.

I did see some people over at the OBS forums with "similar" issues all supposedly stemming from recent OS updates, in other words, "worked fine before but now doesn't" kind of thing, but that could all be anecdotal.

I appreciate the time y'all, I'll keep messing with things here and try to figure this very strange problem out.
