CRM 3.0 Installation Error (Part of upgrade to CRM 4.0) RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am in the process of upgrading CRM 3.0 to CRM 4.0 (and soon CRM 2011) for a customer.

I have done this a dozen or times and ran into something new.  (ironically, this is my last CRM 3.0 customer left to upgrade)

I am redeploying the current CRM 3.0 production to a dev server so we can run a test upgrade and fix all the reports, scripts, etc before doing it to the live system.

I have copied over the databases, run the CRM 3.0 redeployment wizard, etc. all successfully.

I am at the step of installing CRM 3.0 with the hopes of using the existing databases option to get a parallel dev/test copy of production.

However, after putting in the license key (I tried both the client's key and the trial key) the CRM setup just stops.

The log file ends with "Managed Setup exited with code 128."  and the setup stops... nothing in the event viewer.

Server is Windows 2003 w/ SP2, same as production.  I have full domain admin rights.

Looking for someone who has had this same issue in the past and resolution.  :)

  • Hi All

I resolved the issue by downloading and using fresh install files.

Seems silly but it worked.  Hopefully this posting helps someone else in the future.

    Cheers

    Nick
