Printer installation on Home network in Windows 7 enviroment RRS feed

  • Question

  • I  recently got a new laptop with windows 7 Home premium pre installed on it. I have Canon Pixma iP4200 printer which works fine in windows XP and vista environment on My Wireless Home network. Also I had no problem installing driver on my previous laptop and my daughter's laptop.

The printer driver installation process runs smoothly on windows 7 but than it does not recongnise my printer on the network. I tried all possible ways I could think of. Also followed all advice I could obtain on Microsoft web site and Canon website.

I connected it through USB lead and worked fine but no luck with wireless

    Following problem I could identify:

    1. When I search for a Printer driver: Windows 7 gets the driver with the name "Canon Inkjet iP4200" while displaying all other Pixma Printer drive with Canon Pixma iP 4000 (for example).

    2. Though this drive worked fine with the wired connection, Windows 7 is unable to find this on my wieless connection (through router)

    3. In the printer property -> Advanced-> printer Processor -> drop down menu, for some reason I get BJ Print Processor in stead of Pixma Inkjet 4200.

I am completely at loss and would appreciate any thoughts from the people who have come across similar problems.
