Hi!
The 70-464 exam is one of the exams required for the MCSE: Data Management and Analytics , you will need to pass one exam.
If you have the other requirements (MCSA) then you should have received your MCSE certification.
See the requirements below:
-
Step 1: Skills
Earn your MCSA certification.
-
Step 2: Exams
Pass one of the following exams. Be sure to explore the exam prep resources.
-
Step 3: Completion
Complete an MCSE in Data Management and Analytics by passing the required exams in Step 2.
-
Step 4: Continuing Education
Explore other certifications to broaden and advance skills.

Hi Ramesh,
I assume you are going for the MCSE on Data Management and Analytics?
To become a MCSE on Data Management and Analytics you will need do have one of the following MCSAs + 1 MCSE exam(which in this case you already have):
- MCSA: SQL Server 2012/2014
- MCSA: SQL 2016 Database Administration
- MCSA: SQL 2016 Database Development
- MCSA: SQL 2016 BI Development
- MCSA: Machine Learning
- MCSA: BI Reporting
- MCSA: Data Engineering with Azure
Go here to review the requirements: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/learning/mcse-data-management-analytics.aspx
Or check your Certification Planner here: https://mycertificationplanner.one.microsoft.com/
The Certification overview might be helpful as well: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/learning/certification-overview.aspx#/

Hi,
For the MCSA: SQL Server 2012/2014 you will need to pass all of those exams: 70-461, 70-462 and 70-463.(So you will need to pass 3 exams to become a MCSE)
For the MCSA: SQL 2016 Database Administration its 70-764 and 70-765.(Here you need pass 2 exams to become a MCSE)
You might want to check your certification planner, it will tell you all the paths/exams you can take to achieve the MCSE. Other exams may qualify for a shorter path.MCSAs are in general two or three exams and you don't need to have a lower level certification to get it.
MCSE is one exam but they require a specific MCSA.Regards
Daniel
