How can I tweak remote desktop access? RRS feed

  • Question

  • With normal RDP / MSTSC.  I can control things like the resolution and bit depth. I don't seem to be able to do that with WHS2011. I've got 2x 1080p screens and it's overwhelming my ADSL connection.

  • Bit depth? Not for end users, other than by selecting an appropriate connection speed (which indirectly affects bit depth). If it exists at all, it's buried in a configuration file on the server somewhere.

I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • On the Remote Web Access: Computers for <user>, click on Remote Desktop Options. Strangely, this isn't in the online help, and I could swear I've pointed it out to Microsoft on several occasions.

    ... <sigh> ...

  • Hidden in an obvious place. But is there no means of controlling the bit depth? Cutting it from 32 bit to 16 bit would make a huge difference bandwidth-wise.
