Renaming Internal URL for Web Content RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is it possible to change the name for the Internal URL for meeting content download? Also the URL for Group Expansion needs changed?  Where in AD or in SQL DB do we make this change?  Is it in more than one place?  Help?  We decided to change the Web URL after installation and we created the Certs. with the new name .

  • This is a quick write-up that I did for my internal team the first time I encountered this at a customer.

    - Run wbemtest (Start/Run/wbemtest)
    - Click the Connect button, set the namespace to root\cimv2, and click Connect
    - Click Enum Classes.  Leave the superclass name blank and click ok.

First change the internal ABS URL.  Find the MSFT_SIPAddressBookSetting and double click it.  Click the Instances button.  A new window will appear with a single instance in the list.  Double click it.  When you do so, it will look like you just went back to the previous window because wbemtest put an identical looking one on top of the original one.  Find the InternalURL property, double click it, and set it to what you want.  Click Save Property.  On the next screen click Save Object.

Repeat this process for the following WMI settings:

    MSFT_SIPDataMCUCapabilitySetting\Instances\<Backend>\InternalClientContentDownloadURL
    MSFT_SIPGroupExpansionSetting\Instances\<Backend>\InternalDLExpansionWebURL

  • The LCSCMD.exe tool can reconfigure many settings that are not found in the OCS Console itself.  See this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938288

  • However, the Internal URL cannot be changed via lcscmd.  You need to follow Resolution 1 from the article, replacing External with Internal in all relevant locations.

  • I called and opened a problem with Microsoft and fixed the problem.  Yes basically we went through WMI tester to fix the problem.  I will publish the results of how to do this when they send me their email  with the details in it.  Thanks Mike.

  • Ram,

I'm getting a Failure 0xC3EC7D1E error when I try and change the internal URL for MSFT_SIPGroupExpansionSetting form https:// to http://
I've tried it with the OCS services stopped and without I’ve even rebooted the server and no luck... any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Matt
