Asked by:
MOC Client, Dual Forking with RCC????

Question
-
Hi
now i think i know the answer but i will askfor clarification.
We have Nortel CS1000 (5.0) and MCM 3.0 and OCS R1
it all works but the one little issue/by design we can figure out....
When we ring an extension that is enabled for enterprise voice and dual forking with Rcc and answer with the MOC client the desktop phone off hooks and goes on speaker!
we have tried setting the preferred device to computer and phone and no differences where observed (even with a restart of the pc, front end server, MCM and mediation!)
So is this the correct behaviour?
this ties in to a quesiton of what happens with laptop users when they are out and about and there desk phone is back in the office, i dont want it off hooking for obvious reasons :)
any help would be great...
thanks
john

John,
That is not expected behavior. I've built the same environment (not sure of the MCM version) and we did not have that problem. Have you patched OCS/Communicator, there are a number of patches available, including at least 1 specifically for dual forking. Here's something from the Nortel Guide:
The following is a list of the required patches for the Microsoft OCS 2007
installation:
• OCS 2007 – Standard Edition RTM
KB 942872
Version 6362.0 plus hotfix
• Description of the Office Communicator 2007 hotfix package:
December 17, 2007
KB 943083
Version 2.0.6362.36
• Description of Office Communications Server 2007, Unified
Communications Managed API v1.0 Redist: December 17, 2007
KB 944285
Version 3.0.6362.36
• Description of the Update for Office Communication Server 2007,
Mediation Server: December 17, 2007
KB 943086
Version 3.0.6362.36
• OCS Application Proxy Server: OCS 2007 – Standard Edition RTM
KB 942872
Version 6362.0 plus hotfilx
The document I'm referencing is: NN43001-121_01.03_conoffFND.pdf
I don't know where you can get it online but I could ship over to you if you'd like.
Hope this helps!
