form / attribute customization of number display format RRS feed

  • Question

  • I added a custom field to the Accounts entity which is basically a reference to a legacy application customer number.  I defined the field as integer, but there does not appear to be any way to format the display properties for the field - I don't want commas.

I found that you can adjust the system settings for display of numeric fields, but the choices of format are so limited I can't just display the number without spaces or commas or tick marks.........this seems a little ridiculous.  On top of that, systems settings apply to everything.  I don't want to format all numbers in the system the same way.

There must be a simple way to accomplish field-specific formatting, but I am not finding it!

  • There isn't a way to get field-specific formatting in CRM 3.0. In tis circumstance about the only option is to recreate the field as a text field, and if necessary use client script to prevent entry of non-numeric characters
