Pushpin download to GPS stopped working since Microsoft pulled the plug on MSN Direct? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have downloaded pushpins to my Garmin Nuvi 1490 maybe 100 times.  Tonight I added a new pushpin to Streets and Trips and went to download it as always.  First I connected the GPS via USP and waited for it to boot up.  Then I right-clicked on the pushpin and selected "Send to GPS Device".  I should get an MSN Direct screen that lets me choose to send the data either over the USB cable or wirelessly.  Instead I get an error screen in Internet Explorer that says "Server Error in '/' Application", "The Resource cannot be found", "Description: HTTP404.  The Resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed..."

The URL in the IE window is www.msndirect.com/send/poi.aspx

I went to msndirect.com and there is a notice had pulled the plug on the service as of 1/1/2012 so it looks to me like they broke the download function when they killed MSN Direct.

Does anyone know another way to download pushpins to a GPS?
