TiVo Integration RRS feed

  • Question

  • What TiVo integration is provided in Vail?  I don't have a WHS yet, but am looking to purchase one once Vail is generally available.

I believe Tivo integration is only available with the HP MediaCenter today, is that still true?

    Thanks, Daniel

  • You can run the TiVo Desktop on your Vail server, and it will serve up Music, Pictures and saved TiVo recordings to your TiVo(s). It _does_ require a logon to the server to work right, however, so you'll want to RDP in to the server whenever it has rebooted and then simply disconnect from the session.

  • If your Tivo supports operation as a DLNA device, then it should have access to media on the server that way. If not, I don't see anything in the Getting Started Guide about Tivo. (You did read the documentation, didn't you?)
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • Actually the TiVo integration in the current WHS is an add-on for the HP MediaSmart server.  The add-on allows the MediaSmart server to copy programs off of the Tivo, effectively giving it more storage capacity.  I'm trying to figure out what's different with Vail.
