Fix Windows Media Player 10 Mobile Memory Leak! RRS feed

I currently have an AT&T Tilt.  I know there are other great media players out there but I actually like the Windows Media Player installed on my device, the playlist, the album art etc.  My main beef is the Memory Leak.  Windows Media Player uses a huge amount of available program memory when running.  It makes it almost impossible to use any other application while listening to the music stored on my 2gb SD Card.  Example:- I have 60mb of available Program Memory.  With Windows Media Player active it drops drastically to 25mb of program memory with no other application running.  Does anyone know of a fix for this (other than switching to another Media Player)?  Does Microsoft have any intention of fixing this Memory Leak?

  • I would expect it to trae 18 MG or so to run but I would also expect the memory manager to work to allow other programs to run.

For example, I can run Media Player, and surf the net via Wi-Fi easily or edit a document or play a game (although some games are too memory intensive)

I think it has to do with how big your Library is. I have the same issue on my Wing. I really want to like WMP mobile, but because of issues you describe, I use Core player mobile.

WMP album art is so hit-and-miss too. I have album art for ALL of my mp3's in my WMP11 library (Vista Home Premium), but the art for less than half of them is displayed on my phone. The largest jpg's are around 500x500, but why can't thumbnails be synced? (if that's even the issue...)
