  • Although the MCITP on Windows Server 2008 is retired, you can still get a MCSA certification on Windows Server 2008. This requires you to pass three exams: Active Directory (70-640), network infrastructure (70-642) and server administration (70-646):

  • You can also go for Server 2012 certification, the MCSA for Server 2012 certification has the same amount of exams as the MCSA for Server 2008 (3 exams).

There is an upgrade path from MCSA: Server 2008 to MCSA: Server 2012 by passing exam 70-417

The exams for MCSA: Server 2008 have not been announced to retire but the Server 2012 certifications will remain valid longer.

  • The order of the exams is mot important. Whenever you complete all three exams (in any order) you will achieve the MCSA certification.
