OEM License Downgrade Right RRS feed

  • Question

  •

My PC came with OEM Windows XP, the PC was crashed and needed a rebuild.  My company has the Microsoft Volume Licensing.

As I need to rebuild the image, can I downgrade my OEM Windows XP to Windows 2000 Professional?  If yes, can I use the Volume Windows 2000 Professional CD to rebuild the PC image?  Thanks.

  • You cannot use your company's Volume License for Windows 2000 or the VL CD unless your company has purchased a Volume License for your PC.  Volume Licensing is not meant for individuals...only businesses.

  • The PC is not my personal PC.  This is the office PC used in my company.  The PC support in my company is not sure if he can use the Volume License CD to restore my office PC.
