My Name Has an Apostrophe RRS feed

  • Question

  • My last name has an apostrophe, but the site doesn't allow me to use it.  It's not that unusual, the forums really should allow for that.
    • Moved by Mike Walsh FIN Monday, November 3, 2008 6:27 AM better forum - more of a suggestion than a bug (Moved from Bug Reporting for Forums Platform (not product support) to Suggestions and Feedback for the Forums)

  • I'm moving this to the Suggestion forum as it's that rather than a Bug per se.

Aah the pain with special characters.
The problem with such often will be, that PCs on the end user side may not have the proper fonts to show them or the proper users to read them - and replacement fonts selected may cause strange effects. (As I work for an international company, I see this often enough.)
Maybe this is one of the reasons, why we do not see Asian names in Chinese language here :-)

  • Just a nit-pick, but when a site does not allow you to properly spell your name you consider it a bug.  In the US an apostrophe is a very common character and as you can see the site properly handles it the text of my message.  If I was using a character that wasn't on the keyboard that would be one thing, but ...
