URL issue for SSRS 2005 named instance RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,
I installed a default and named instance of SSRS 2005 on a Win 2003 server and trying to map DNS entries to the virtual directories of these two instances.  However I'm not able to map a DNS entry to the named instance of SSRS 2005.  Any help with the IIS 6.0 configuration will be appreciated. The goal is to have two different URL's for both the named and the default instances of SSRS. The URL for the default instance works fine but not the named instance.

    Details:
    ---------
1.)  SSRS 2005 w/ SP3 installed on Win 2003 and additionally one named instance of SSRS also intalled.
2.)  Mapped URL - http://instanceonereports.com to the IP address of SSRS server from the DNS server. The IIS uses Default Web Page, Port 80 and no host header. The DNS server entries includes- IP address of this server and http://instanceOnereports.com
3.) Mapped URL - http://instanceTworeports.com to the same IP address from the DNS server. The IIS uses a new website I created but uses the same port but host header entry 'instanceTworeports' was added.
4.) When I type any of the two URL's, both point to the same virtual directory belonging to the default SSRS instance.

What should I do to make my URL for the named instance work ?

Thanks in advance for your help.
    Centy
