I LOVE Windows Genuine Advantage RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I am a Microsoft stockholder.  I am posting to say that I LOVE Windows Genuine Advantage.

I am not Bill Gates, I am not a rich person.  I'm like everyone else, I have plenty of bills to pay every month.  But the way I look at it, every pirated copy of Microsoft software represents a hand being put into my pocket by some low-life scumbag.  That hand is STEALING money out of my pocket.  STEALING from me.

So anything that cuts down on the piracy of Microsoft software is fine with me.

  • Since this is the feedback section and every individual is free to express their opinion.

    So here goes:

I HATE Windows Genuine Advantage. This initiative does not provide any means to upgrade to a valid product Key.Which makes it much hated by me.The only way to be a genuine windows user is to either buy a WGA kit or reformat your system.

Well Microsoft seems to be giving out very few options but wait they are under process of development of a tool and distribute it for free!!!!

Well what will the stakeholders think microsoft is going open source after being levied with numerous anti-trust cases.

Microsoft will go bankrupt is it carries this free distribution practice. Why not stop the critical updates altogether and save money for vista.Micosoft can make a new money churner out of it and WGA would add glory ot the development of it providing the finance necessary for the promotion of vista to beta 3 and which would then be passed on to the consumers and would be for retail sale.Whats in calling a software a beta when I still think windows XP is in beta considering the number of unpatched holes in the OS as well as IE6.

Well in the end no questions asked in this post only feedback and comments in the right section. I hope this post wont be deleted and still hope a  reply from microsoft:

"Your feedback is valuable to us and thank you for posting  your feedback :)"

ps:what I have found out is Steve Ballmer is responsible for all this WGA for he is the CEO.and Mr. Bill is only the chairman and chief software designer.considering the amount of jumping he did in a microsoft press conference, I come to expect this from steven.

    here is steve (332KB) :

  • REDspot – we definitely appreciate the feedback you’ve given our team. I guarantee you different members from Engineering and Marketing are taking note of this. Realize that Microsoft is not only trying to protect its customers from being taken advantage of, but we are also trying to protect the intellectual property we have worked very hard to develop.

  • Dear Martin E,

The scripted method or the method of telephonic activation you have provided a link for is only good for windows SP1 versions .None the less I had tried it before the WGA came into affect but to no avail; thats why I hung on to my VLK as it was not giving me any problems. All the other product key changing utility only use the script provided by microsoft to change the key.But then there is a revision dated may 18 2006 in that link can Ms say that this script will work for Sp2 also ?

The only tool I think which is able to change the key is bundled with genuine advantage kit provided by microsoft.

In the end thanks for the reply Martin E if you have any other suggestions then please reply.

  • REDspot:

You are correct in saying the only tool available right now for changing a product key is bundled with the WGA kit.  We are working on a tool that anyone can use.  I'm sorry I don't have an exact date but I'm told it will be very soon.

    Thanks,

    Greg
