This development is absolutely outrageous and unacceptable.

Maybe not many posters use the bridge, but in the Visual C++ forums that I frequent, a very large fraction of the answers come from the bridge. That is what the bridge is for -- answering many posts efficiently.

I also predict that several of the best answerers will no longer post if they have to use the forum interface.

  • Oh pants.

That's the first I guess most of us will have heard of its demise. :(

Maybe this unwelcome development is only for the Answers version of the bridge?

    We need clarification here.

  • Chalk up one more. I've sent a mail to fissues at microsoft dot com to see if that helps. I hope that post in the Answers forum applies only to Answers - as far as I understand that is a different plattform.

  • "Proposed As Answer"? This is getting out of hand. No, my post is not an answer, it is only a status update. Please withdraw that proposal. When someone reports that the bridge is working we have an answer. Not until then.

(And this is one of the reason I prefer the NNTP bridge. Then you don't see any of this silly "marked as answer".)

  • It works fine here in New Zealand.

I am scared of seeing such posts.

I really DON'T want to see that one day Microsoft announces NNTP Bridge is discontinued, just like NNTP Bridge for Partner forums.

    Good news, Jochen, thank you.

Apologies to the management for my over-reaction. But, seriously, so many people (especially Jochen) put so much effort into campaigning for and developing the NNTP bridge that it would would be a real crime to abandon it now.

I feel badly for those that use the Answers Bridge ...
